Have You Ever Considered Using GPT as Support for Work Methodologies?

In this case, this technology can help us overcome the traditional challenges associated with OKR implementation, as well as offer opportunities to innovate and improve in our usual practices.

Note: when I say GPT, it could refer to other Generative Text Artificial Intelligence systems, although in my opinion, this is the one that currently offers the best results.

Let's see then how to use GPT to boost our work as an OKR Champion, especially in the following situations:

1. Overcoming Creative Blocks

This is one of the main applications of GPT, avoiding the blank paper effect, when you develop the habit of working closely day by day with this tool, where you share the work you have to do and ask it to accompany you in the process.

In this case, when you can't come up with OKRs to help a team or colleague, you can start by asking GPT for help and then refining the results with your knowledge and experience. Although some say it's better to write each one by hand and then contrast it with GPT, if inspiration doesn't come initially, this can be a good way to start.

2. Reviewing OKR Drafts

One of the main contributions OKR can make to our organization is to improve the way we communicate, not only because transparency is encouraged, but also because by defining objectives using this system, we are adopting a kind of common language that over time will help improve people's understanding of our priorities.

Let's use GPT then to harmonize the way we write OKRs and make them more understandable for everyone. Because often we assume that people understand what we write with just a few words, but I'm convinced that better wording leads to better understanding.

3. Enhancing CFR Benefits

There's no doubt that one of the best ideas of the creators of OKR has been to ensure that if objectives are not tracked, the good intentions we had at the beginning will gradually fade away in the whirlwind of day-to-day activities.

That's why they recommend stopping every so often (week/month/quarter) to review our OKRs and also doing it as a team. But this cannot be improvised; the better prepared the CFR meetings are, the better the results will be, and this is where GPT comes into play because planning is one of its specialties.

4. Assisting with Alignment

Although alignment is considered one of the great long-term benefits of using OKR, the truth is that it usually receives less time than is adequate. It's true that the transparency required by the OKR system provides an important benefit in this regard, but in the end, proactive work by the OKR Champion is also necessary by reviewing all OKRs of the teams, seeking synergies, and avoiding divergences or incompatibilities between them.

Here's where OKR can help us by reviewing all OKRs and making sure this doesn't happen.

5. Decision Making in Implementation

When working with OKR, one thing is to understand what it means, the value it can bring, knowing how to design objectives correctly, and something very different is deciding how you're going to implement OKR in your organization. Then, when it comes to making the decisions required for the implementation of OKR, it may be interesting to use GPT to contrast the decisions that are being made, for example, whether to perform a total implementation, by teams, in a pilot project, or by squads.

If you tell GPT about your organization and the particular situations of each case, it can tell you the pros and cons of each option in order to choose the most suitable one possible.

Automation and Collaboration for Organizational Success

As you can see, relying on GPT and similar technologies in the OKR management process not only optimizes the phases of design, monitoring, and implementation of our objectives but also promotes a culture of innovation, collaboration, and adaptability, key elements for success in our organization's strategy.

You can learn all about this and much more at the Automate OKR with Artificial Intelligence event, where there will also be time for a demo on how to create a GPT specialized in OKR to help us in our day-to-day work as an OKR Champion.
