Jeronimo Palacios, new advisor in Operating Models
October 1, 2024
Seven years ago, we made the decision to begin collaborating with Jeronimo Palacios to train our professional in agility. Our strong commitment to this area has further strengthened our relationship with him, and he now becomes a senior advisor at our company in Operating Models.
Jeronimo, is a Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) at Scrum.org and Agile Coach who works with both large organizations and small businesses, helping them transition from process-centered systems to value-centered systems.
The goal of this new agreement is to leverage his expertise and combine it with our infrastructure and talent so that our clients and partners can tackle more complex optimization projects.
Over the last decade, we’ve witnessed a massive surge, followed by a decline, in transformation initiatives related to agility. According to Jeronimo “organizational management issues still persist.”
What are these issues? Unreliable delivery, lack of predictability, rising operational costs, over engineering, poor software quality and lack of transparency in project execution, among others.
The firs step Jeronimo proposes is to help organizations understand what’s going wrong and identify the measures needed to improve their delivery and adaptability while maintaining focus on productivity. Secondly, it’s key to build internal capabilities within organizations to monitor, detect and correct these issues before they arise, or at least before they reach the customers.
Collaboration with Jeronimo to tackle complex projects in Product and Platform Operational Model Optimization (P&POM).
Redesigning Operating Models
One of the main trends in the coming years will be the focus on optimizing Product and Platform Operating Models (P&POM). While companies are aware of how they work, Jeronimo assures that “few truly understand how they can actually work.” This lack of internal transparency is the root cause of many of the issues mentioned above.
Analyzing and creating more agile and adaptive product and platform-based operating frameworks will, on one hand, reduce decision latency, and on the other hand, help businesses focus on the digital and traditional initiatives they need to stay competitive.
An effective operating model focuses on connecting strategy with delivery, and organizations have realized that success in their initiatives is not possible without extending their vision beyond frameworks and methodologies.
In fact, investment in agility and digitalization initiatives without changing inherited operating models have been one of the key factors behind the failure of these initiatives. Companies that understand, and effective operating model is necessary to support their strategy are those optimizing their investment most successfully.
Agile with Strategic Vision
Thanks to the work we have done in recent years, the effort to understand all of this, and the ability to adapt our models to change and meet different needs. We can confidently say that we are positioned to be a strategic player and advisor at the highest decision-making levels. Our recent M&A moves have prepared us to compete on a strategic level.
If your company is undergoing an operational optimization process, our teams may have the skills you need to develop projects and fill the gaps in these new operating models.
